Choir
Music is an integral part of liturgical worship. All services are sung or chanted. Do you like to sing? Speak to the choir director, Benjamin Stell. New voices are always welcome.
Readers
The first degree of the priesthood, the lowest degree is that of Readers. He voluntarily dedicates himself to the service of God. The Reader's responsibility is reading at the Divine Services.
Altar Servers
Though unordained, men and boys receive a blessing from the priest to serve in the Holy Altar. Their purpose is to perform liturgical duties such as lighting altar candles, preparing charcoal for incense, attending after-Communion bread and wine table and assisting the major orders with the liturgy.
Church Board/Parish Council
As elected representatives of our parish, these dedicated men and women assist the rector, assuring St. Vladimir Orthodox Church and its operations function smoothly. The current list of these representatives can be found under About Us > Administration menu.
Fellowship
Throughout the Gospels, our Savior Jesus Christ sits with those to whom He is ministering. On the day of Pentecost, the apostles, endowed with the Holy Spirit, were gathered together breaking bread.
Following Divine Liturgy and on other special occasions, coffee and treats are served in Daria Hall. Join us!
Men's Fellowship
This fellowship is open to all men of the parish, including inquirers and catechumens. The group’s purpose is to share education, fellowship, and service. Though in its infancy, the vision is to meet 1 or 2 Saturdays a month, share breakfast and talk about a book study, current events or other topics of interest. Church maintenance projects may be part of the agenda depending on time and availability. If interested, speak to Herman Meyer.
Assumption Altar Society
The members of the Society support St. Vladimir Orthodox Church through various fundraising events such as bake sales, raffles, pierogi making and craft/rummage sales. Funds raised have purchased church chandeliers, church carpeting and Priest vestments. Meetings occur periodically during Sunday Coffee Hour following Divine Liturgy.
Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America (FOCA) Club
The Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America unites Orthodox Christians in fun, fellowship and service within our church and across the Diocese.
The Colonial District, of which St. Vladimir Orthodox Church’s FOCA is a part, includes clubs in Trenton NJ, Washington DC, Baltimore MD, Philadelphia PA and Bethesda MD. Members participate in many National and District events by sending monetary donations to support Orthodox organizations and projects. The Colonial District has three annual events hosted in turn by the clubs: a Bowling Tournament, Religious Education Day and the District Convention. The FOCA Club fundraises throughout the year with food and Easter candy sales, as well as the popular Turkey Social. Members meet monthly during Sunday Coffee Hour after Divine Liturgy.
Outreach & Evangelism
Believing that we are the Apostolic Church, our members understand and embrace the importance of opening our hearts and doors to everyone who wishes to worship the One True God and live a life of repentance and wholeness. Mission and evangelism opportunities are available. Speak to the rector if you are interested in serving God in this way.
