Today, on the Feast of St. Mary of Egypt, we were blessed to have Mother Abbess Christophora (Holy Transfiguration Monastery, Ellwood City, PA) join us in Divine Liturgy. Afterwards she graced us with wisdom, encouragement and even solace in our sorrow due to the blessed repose of Matushka Mary Shafran on March 31, 2025.
Mother Christophora reminded us that we are a lump of clay being fashioned into Christ. We must learn what gifts God has given us so that we can work in cooperation with Him, use those given talents and multiply them to further His Kingdom here on earth. She said, “You may think what you offer is small, but it is not. Come to Divine Liturgy. Help where it is needed, no matter how simple it seems to you.”
Everyone enjoyed engaging with Mother Christophora, especially the many catechumens here at St. Vladimir Church. She enjoyed everyone as well, especially chatting with some of the younger parishioners!
We are thankful for Mother Christophora’s relationship with us, and we with her. Glory to God for all things!
