Christmas Tree Decorating & Yolka 2024 - 12/15/24
Sunday, December 15, 2024 was a busy day for the children of St. Vladimir's Church.
Following Divine Liturgy, the Sunday School children decorated the tree with all their favorite ornaments. Amidst smiles and laughter, they accomplished their task swiftly in order to prepare for the next "special" event of the day....the Yolka!
The presentation was titled "A Living Nativity Icon." As one of the Sunday school teachers narrated the story of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ's birth as told by St. Luke the Apostle, the children moved in and out of the icon's background of the cave "where He lay." Various Nativity tropars and kontaks were sung with help from several choir members. The concluding hymn, "Silent Night" was sung by all the children present. It was obvious to the audience how much time and effort was put into the Yolka. It was excellent!
To the delight of all, St. Nicholas paid the children a visit bringing gifts, love and kindness.
